Jane Shimon, Ed.D.

About Jane:

Dr. Jane Shimon was born and raised in St. Paul, MN.  She completed her B.S. degree at St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, MN, where she double majored in Physical Education and Health Education, along with minors in Athletic Training and Coaching.  She completed her M.S. degree at New Mexico Highlands University in Physical Education and earned her Ed.D. in Physical Education – Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado.

 

Her 30 years of teaching experience includes teaching physical and health education at the high school level, working and teaching as a Certified Athletic Trainer at the high school and collegiate level, and teaching in PETE (Physical Education Teacher Education) programs at various universities across the country.  Jane is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Boise State University where she teaches within the K-12 Physical Education program.  

 

Her textbook Introduction to Teaching Physical Education is in its 2nd Edition, and her research areas include physical and health education pedagogy and physical activity.  Jane is currently working on a new computerized instrument and testing protocol to measure hamstring flexibility.
