Sheffler began working as the Athletic Events Manager at the University of Idaho in February 2014. In that role, he is responsible for more than 130 athletic events across campus each year. In addition to all the Vandal athletic events, he helps bring numerous community athletic events on campus as well. These events include club volleyball tournaments, state gymnastic meets and high school football, just to name a few.

 

In the short time KC has been at Idaho, he has managed operations for various conference championships including; 2014 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, 2015 & 2016 Big Sky Conference Soccer Championships and the 2016 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships. He also acted as the Assistant Tournament Manager for the First and Second Rounds of the 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship hosted by the University of Idaho in Spokane.

 

In addition to athletic event management, Sheffler also oversees many aspects of the day to day facility operations of the Kibbie Dome, Dan O’Brien Track and Field Complex, Guy Wicks Varsity Soccer Pitch, Memorial Gym and Physical Education Building. These duties include the coordination of scheduling, custodial, maintenance and major facility conversions of these spaces. Most recently, he assisted with the transition of Vandal soccer into the Kibbie Dome. With the installation of a new turf system, similar to that of AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, Vandal soccer is now the only collegiate soccer program to play exclusively indoors.

 

Before he began his career at Idaho, Sheffler worked as a Recreation Coordinator for the cities of Coeur d’Alene and Hayden. He coordinated all aspects of a variety of youth and adult sport leagues and special events. He earned his undergraduate degree in Recreation and Master’s in Movement and Leisure Sciences from the University of Idaho in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Throughout grad school, he worked as a facility and events intern for the Kibbie Dome Manager. In 2012, Sheffler was named “Outstanding Graduate Student” by the Idaho Recreation and Park Association (IRPA). At the conclusion of his graduate studies, he was selected to present his master’s thesis at a professional conference in St. Louis.

 

During his time as an undergraduate student at Idaho, he worked as a facility attendant at the Student Recreation Center, a high school basketball official, an intramural supervisor and served as Treasurer for the Recreation Student Organization. In 2011, he was named “Outstanding Undergraduate Student” by IRPA.

 

Sheffler is a 2007 graduate of Potlatch High School. He lives just outside of Moscow with one of his 14 siblings and his golden retriever puppy.
