Jessica Atkins
Head Volleyball Coach
Fort Hays State University (KS)
Jessica began working at the University of Idaho in Academic Services and Compliance in July of 2012. She was invited to join the senior staff as the Director of Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator in April of 2013. Atkins currently serves on the Athletics Gender Equity Committee and as a University Title XI Investigator. She also supervises tennis, track, cross country, women’s golf, and swimming and diving.
Prior to the University of Idaho, Atkins was the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and the Senior Woman Administrator at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Prior to her stint in administration, she was the Head Women's Volleyball Coach there. In her four seasons as head coach, Atkins led the Mountain Lion’s to a 78-69 overall record and a berth into the Southwest Regional Tournament for the first time in school history. Atkins also coached for the Colorado Juniors Volleyball Club intermittently, as she assisted and head coached teams ranging from 14’s to 18’s Open Division.
Atkins played volleyball for four years at Murray State University, but transferred to UCCS to finish her degree in History. She was a member of the Academics and Student Athlete Welfare Committee for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, was a 2011 National Convention Scholarship Recipient for the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA), and is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program under UCCS Chancellor Shockley Zalabak.
